SSAAANZ Postgraduate/HDR Online Writing Group
The SSAAANZ Postgraduate/HDR Writing Group is a new online initiative open to postgraduate and research students looking for dedicated writing time, peer support, and opportunities to informally share work and give/receive feedback.
The group will meet quarterly throughout the year. Each quarterly session will consist of one writing day (all day, with multiple breaks), an optional writing exchange (via email), and a feedback session (approx. an hour, scheduled for a week or so later). Depending on interest, additional sessions may be scheduled throughout the year.
The group will meet online via Zoom. It is open to research students (from honours to PhD level) and postgraduate coursework students working on research papers/projects.
The goal of the sessions is not only writing, but to have a space to meet with other HDR/postgraduate screen scholars, discuss challenges associated with research and writing, and create connections across the SSAAANZ community.
This group is run with the understanding that many postgraduates and HDR students are juggling multiple commitments—attendance at all sessions is not mandatory, and we will work to find a date/time that works best for most participants (and casual drop-ins are very welcome if you’re unable to attend the whole day!)
The first session will be scheduled for July, with a second planned for November.
If you would like to participate in this initiative, please write to the HDR representative, Sophie Tallis (Sophie.tallis@anu.edu.au), who can answer any questions that you may have about the group.
